Located in Iowa's Creative Corridor between Cedar Rapids and Iowa City, Ely has experienced a lot of growth with their population more than tripling in the last 15 years. While the community is growing and welcoming new residents in record numbers, they continue to be proud of their history. Many of the wood-frame late Victorian buildings are still standing in the historic Dows Street business district and have been listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003. The Ely school house, now the Ely Community Center, was also listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.
Home of two properites listed on the National Register of Historic Places: Dows Street Historic District and The Ely School House.
